Hole under a very deep filling in the back molar

Treatments

A hole under a deep filling is a real challenge. It’s deep under the gums, which is why we used a special technique here.

We made a filling first and then a partial crown over it. We use the blue patch in the photos to keep everything dry, both for the special adhesive layer (which of course must not get wet) and for the deep fill.

In a clinical study we did on this type of restoration, a survival rate of 96% was achieved in 12 years of follow-up. We are very proud of this. Because the dental technician used the perfect color and shape of the molar, this restoration is hard to find in the photos after treatment. Also, molars like this are nice and smooth.
